P1: Escaping Price Wars: Create New Markets Instead (Escaping; The MMM (Modern Marketing Mindset))
From Me-Too product To Market Leader
Importance of strategic marketing
Strategic marketing solves the clue: how to launch a product that has typically designed older competitors in the market and still be number 1. This has everything to do with you choosing the right market to advertise that product. This will be demonstrated in this book.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said that strategic marketing is the most important step in marketing. Why?
We know that copying products is very easy. For example, when apple launched the iPhone, Samsung launched galaxy a week later. So, it’s very easy for competitors to provide similar products with similar prices.
A popular telecom company in Egypt called ‘Etisalat’ provided a price of 14 cents per minute, the very next day other companies ‘Vodafone & Mobinil’ had the same communication plan with 14 cents per minute.
Then how am I supposed to compete? How do I get a competitive advantage? Am I supposed to keep developing my product which takes huge investment? When making ‘Viagra’, ‘Pfizer’ spent 10 million of dollars on research and development, but many products -although patency- are fast following it. so did apple and Samsung. and so on…
Now I need to find an economic way where I don’t spend a lot of money, but I still have an advantage over my competitors. That way is ‘Strategic Marketing’, where I’m not developing a product but rather, I am developing the market. And I’m not spending money, but coming up with ideas.
Which is why I always say that strategic marketing is the key difference between a marketer who memorizes the roles, and the creative marketer.
